Lokesh Kanagaraj Clears the Air: “I Won’t Walk Away Without Finishing Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 and Rolex”

Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has finally addressed the growing speculation around his future projects and the much-talked-about rumours of him stepping away from Kaithi 2. Setting the record straight, the director made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) midway.

Speaking about the chatter, Lokesh emphasised that franchises like Kaithi, Vikram and Rolex are deeply personal to him. “I will not leave without completing Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 and Rolex,” he stated, firmly shutting down rumours of an exit.

The director acknowledged that delays and gaps between films have led to assumptions, but explained that careful planning, scripting, and actor availability play a major role—especially when multiple interconnected stories are involved. With the LCU now a massive pop-culture phenomenon, Lokesh said he feels a strong responsibility to deliver satisfying continuations rather than rushed sequels.

While he has explored other genres and standalone films, Lokesh reassured fans that the LCU remains very much alive. Each sequel, he noted, will be taken up at the right time to ensure scale, depth, and impact live up to expectations.

For fans eagerly waiting to see Karthi’s Kaithi return, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram expand, and Suriya’s Rolex get his long-awaited standalone film, Lokesh’s statement comes as a much-needed confirmation: the universe isn’t ending anytime soon—it’s just being built carefully.
